Assisted community posting
scatterpost helps you write a post for each community with that community's rules in front of you, and checks it against them, written for the people who read it. scatterpost never posts to these communities. You post it yourself.
How it works
- Pick a community. Open a post in the dashboard, choose the Communities tab, and add a subreddit, Hacker News, Product Hunt or Indie Hackers.
- Read the rules. scatterpost shows that community's rules. For some communities there is a short summary written by us, with a link to the community's own rules page. Until a person has checked a summary against that page it is labelled Unreviewed. You can also paste the rules yourself. Pasted rules are shown as plain text.
- Write the post. Write it by hand, or ask scatterpost to draft it with AI (Reddit, Product Hunt and Indie Hackers only). AI drafting uses AI credits, or your own Anthropic key. Each community gets its own post, written for the people who read it. For Hacker News you type the title and text yourself: Hacker News asks people not to post generated or AI-edited text and not to use it primarily for promotion, so scatterpost checks your text but does not write or edit it. There is no AI drafting or AI review for Hacker News.
- Check it. scatterpost checks the draft against the structured requirements you saved, such as title length or post type, and against your other drafts, so that each community gets a post written for it rather than a copy of another. Errors must be fixed before the submit link becomes available. Warnings are shown so you can read them and carry on if you choose. Posting twice in the same community within 24 hours is blocked.
- Post it yourself. Open the submit page in a new tab, post from your own account, then paste the link to your post back into scatterpost. scatterpost keeps it as your record and shows when you last posted there.
What scatterpost does not do
- It does not post, comment or vote for you, and it does not log in to these communities.
- It does not scrape these communities' websites. The rules come from the library or from what you paste.
- It works only with your own account, and it automates nothing on these communities.
- It cannot promise that a community will accept your post or how many people will see it.
Plans
Assisted community posting is on the Pro and Team plans. If a workspace moves to Free, the drafts it already has stay readable but can no longer be edited.
Using it from your agent
Your own AI agent can read a community's saved rules, check a draft and save a draft through the MCP server, using your own model. AI drafting and AI review with scatterpost's credits are in the dashboard only, and Hacker News text can only be saved by you in the dashboard. See the MCP server page for the tools.
Reddit, Hacker News, Product Hunt, Indie Hackers and Anthropic are trade marks of their owners; scatterpost is not affiliated with them.
